I worked on a job this summer where the production manager announced, "All I need is Mike and an iPhone charger!"
This was on a job where I was controlling the lights wirelessly with a tablet.
Fun hyperbole! It seems like that sometimes with all the wireless battery-powered lights being controlled remotely.
It is the future of gaffing that is here now. I expect it will only continue to evolve to the point where almost every light on every set is wireless and battery-powered. This type of lighting is a huge time saver.
While this shoot looked effortless, I remember it being a long hard day with me, a best, and a third!
This is my basement after most shoots anymore:
I'm charging gear for the next day. It's the future that is here now.
