Blog: Fall Sojourn

I went day hiking in Daniel Boone National Forest a couple days ago.  I was by myself.  It was a sojourn.

It is a trip not only into the wilderness but also into myself.  It is a chance to renew my spirit.

I was fascinated to find this tiny plant presenting the last flowers of the season.  It is a survivor.  There have been some light freezes and several frosts but somehow it has persevered.  I think these are called Slender Scratchdaisy.

I spent most of my time hiking to this remote overlook.

PS:  The haunted tree from my Halloween post was from the same hike.
