Lever Nuts

In the great wide universe of industrial hardware, one of the cooler things I found are lever nuts.  They are often called Wago nuts, which is a brand name.

It is easy to connect and disconnect wires by simply lifting the locking lever

There seems to be 2 main styles:  the 222 which is larger and looks beefer; and the 221 which is more compact version.  I have seen these for 2, up to 5, connections.  There may be other sizes.

Lever nuts can connect wires of different types, i.e. stranded or solid, and wires of different gauges.  For example, the current model of the 221 will accept AWGs from 24 to 10.  As you can see on the lever nut above, it is rated for 20 amps up to 300 volts.

These are excel at temporary connections which is something we have to do all the time on set.

It is easy to connect, and disconnect wires.  The bare ends are undamaged, so the same leads can be reused.

These connectors also make it possible to change a wire without disturbing the other connections.

Lever nuts are great working with LED ribbon.  They are so convenient for connecting LED ribbon that I keep a box of lever nuts with my LED ribbon supplies.

I've also found these to be handy for other projects.  Here I have converted a shop light to LEDs by removing the ballast.

Here is another project; a new furnace humidifier.  Here, I have used lever nuts for the low-voltage connections.
